Several months ago, Chief Pristas announced his decision to step down from the Brigade at the end of the year. As you are all well aware, Chief Pristas has consistently been one of the most active and dedicated officers since stepping into his role as Assistant Chief. Known affectionately as "Chief P," he has truly done it all within our organization.

Over his remarkable 22+ years of service with the CTVFC—and more than 40 years in the fire service—Chief Pristas has held various roles, including Board of Directors member, Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief. His contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Merit Award, the Chief's Award (twice), Brigade Member of the Year, Most Calls, and the President's Award.

Beyond his accolades and years of service, several qualities stand out about Chief Pristas and his unwavering commitment to the CTVFC:

1. **Attendance:**
Chief Pristas was "all in, all the time." Even in the years he didn’t win the "Most Calls" award, he was right behind the top contender. He consistently made himself available, responding to calls at all hours—even in the middle of the night—and filling schedule gaps to ensure coverage. His steadfast presence set a standard of reliability for the entire organization.

2. **Loyalty:**
Throughout his tenure, Chief Pristas served under multiple senior leaders as Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief. He executed orders with fidelity, supporting his leaders regardless of whether he personally agreed with a decision. Chief Pristas never had an "agenda"; he prioritized the good of the Brigade above all else.

3. **Coaching:**
Chief Pristas was always watching, teaching, and guiding—on the scene and in the firehouse. His genuine interest in the success of others was evident in his ability to mentor without belittling. He supported members as a friend invested in their growth, rather than as a Chief imposing authority. His leadership style was rooted in respect and camaraderie.

4. **Learning:**
About six years ago, despite nearly four decades of experience, Chief Pristas challenged himself to pursue additional certifications, including Pro Board officer training. He embraced the challenge—not for personal gain, but to set an example for others and ensure the safety and success of the team and the organization.

While Chief Pristas' departure from the Brigade will leave a void, he does not plan to leave the CTVFC entirely. He is exploring new ways to contribute as a company member.

Please join me on his last day with the Brigade to express our gratitude for his time, commitment, and leadership. Chief Pristas, you will be missed, but your legacy will remain a cornerstone of this organization.
