Although January has been a busy month for CTVFC in other areas, it has been a thankfully slow month for responses. However, firefighters were kept busy on Tuesday, January 28th with two fires. First, at 1126, Station 90 was dispatched for a working commercial structure fire in Jackson Township with multiple calls reporting flames visible and heavy smoke in the area. Tower 21 was enroute with a crew of 5 within minutes of dispatch and was the second arriving unit on scene. Crews encountered heavy fire and smoke from a commercial garage area that contained unknown chemicals and vehicles. CTVFC worked along side numerous other companies on this three alarm fire, which was reported under control at 1210. Units cleared at approximately 1400 hours after working to ensure all hot spots were extinguished and equipment was cleaned up. Later that evening, Station 90 was again dispatched at 2358 for a structure fire in Cranberry Township for a vehicle on fire in a driveway endangering a house. Thanks to quick responding units and mutual aid, the car was extinguished quickly with no impact to the structure.
